Happy Mail Week...

I came home from Ireland to find a card from the postie indicating that I had some happy mail waiting for me at the sorting office, so I duly set off up there and got my first set of parcels on Tuesday morning on the way to work.  On Tuesday night I got home to another card, although I was somewhat sceptical about whether or not there actually was another parcel, you see the first card had said there were 2 parcels, and I'd picked up 3 (although the postie's ability to coutn has often been called into question) however when, on the Wednesday, I logged into Etsy to leave feedback for one of Tuesday's parcels, I realised there was another Etsy originating parcel out there that I'd forgotten about, so on Thursday morning I went up to collect that.  Then today I came home to yet another parcel...


So inside parcels #s 1 and 2 was this pair.  They both came from Amazon, ordered on the same day, so heaven only knows why they were packaged and dispatched separately, even though it was the same day they were dispatched, and I'd paid for the cheapest 'bung it all in together' postage option.  


Anywho, my mum will be thrilled to read that I've been getting more into the embroidery again (she first taught me when I was knee high to the proverbial grasshopper, and my gran, bless her, still has some of my early efforts on display in her living room)  When I saw the Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection I thought it might be the ideal companion for some hand projects.  I've only had a quick flip through, but I already think I can use some for my Stitch Tease strip...


For book #2, the Zakka Style book has a sew along starting up soon, hosted by some of the big names in the bloggy world.  There will be a project a week for several months til all 24 projects are done.  I don't imagine I'll do them all, but I shall have fun looking through the book to pick what I will make.

Next is this fat eighth bundle of Reunion by Sweetwater that I ordered quite a while ago, but then the shop had had a miscount on their stock, and I had to wait a while for more to be delivered to them.  I was happy enough to wait, as I have no particular project in mind for it.  I love this line, but it's huge, and I really couldn't justify buying an FQ or HY bundle of it, although I have picked up a yard or a metre here and there of some of my more favourite prints in it that I can see using more often.  I'm toying with a few possibilities, but there's no rush...

Now these are rare and unusual creatures in the UK, a kind of clasp bar affair that attaches to fabric to allow you to make key fobs and the like.  I got some regular sized ones and some smaller ones, and I think it's fair to say I won't need to stock up on any more for a while ;o)

Finally, Laura, my erstwhile October travelling companion, took out a second mortgage to post these threads to me which I won in a giveaway recently.  She's having another giveaway of more of them now (check out last Sunday's post...)

So plenty to play with this weekend!  I actually think I need to catch up with a bit of sleep from last weekend first though ;o)
