Before I get to the sewing, I just want to congratulate Helen Glover and Heather Standing on winning GB's first ever women's rowing Olympic gold. As an ex-rower and umpire, I was on the edge of my seat throughout, and cursing every commentator that said they'd won it before they crossed the line, muttering under my breath 'Don't catch a crab now, don't catch a crab now...' I hope local girl Kath Grainger can pull it out of the bag and get that elusive Olympic gold as my dad and I watch at Dorney on Friday. Now back to your regularly scheduled post...
Work In Progress Wednesday:
Huh, that time of the week again, I swear it's rolling around faster and faster these days! This last week saw me going to another pattern drafting class, as well as over to Edinburgh to meet up with a great bunch of girls. I got some sewing done, but as I'm not a well person, I've mostly been cutting this week. And cutting. And cutting (sometimes including my finger...) There's also been some paper piecing - and speaking of paper piecing, check out the first day of the Practically Paper Piecing blog hop starting on Kirsty's blog today.
Finishes This Week:
Inset Circle Challenge prize - don't forget, linkups close tonight at midnight BST!
Piece Bee With You July block - Phuong asked for vintage camera related items, and this is what I came up with:
Pencil case for him down south, as I'll be seeing him tomorrow, which ticks off another Finish Along finish for this quarter:
I got all my Brit Bee fabric cut and sent out yesterday, plus to an additional volunteer creator, after my first bee folded before my turn. On Sunday, Jenny (Sarah's mum) learned how to do a pinless curve on one of my bits, so I've now got 14 different people that will have contributed to this super special quilt :o)
In Progress This Week:
Remember all that cutting I mentioned? Well this is what I was hacking into. I've now got it all cut for a big paper piecing project, but alas, I can't shared any more til October! I can tell you it also involved rounding up 36 self cover buttons too...
I got my toile for my self drafted skirt finished. I hope to get to sewing this soon, but doubt it'll happen before I head down to Dorney tomorrow. I won't be back from mum and dad's until Sunday evening, so think it'll be a wee while yet before it gets done.
To Be Worked On This Week:
EPP Square Dance - I started this at FQR, and I think I'll have plenty of time sitting around to get on with it!
Get a pattern sorted for my stop on the Practically Paper Piecing blog hop
Get the hand work on TBB II done
Get my block for the Texting While Sewing competition actually drawn up so I can sew it together, especially as there's some embroidery involved...
Fresh Sewing Day:
Eeek, not only is it a Wednesday, it's also the first of the month, and therefore a fresh sewing day! Here's a mosaic of what I created over the last month:
It feels like I did more than this, but I suppose I do have quite the pile of WIPs from this month!
