For Brit Bee's January block, Hadley decided she wanted us to make a supersized version of the Diamond Ripples block by Lara Finlayson in the Modern Blocks book. Thankfully she cut all the HSTs on her Sizzix for us, out of a collection of greys/blacks/whites and pinks/oranges, and left us to it:
I'd like to say it was all sweetness and light, but first I managed to sew the siggy block triangle into the bottom row (which I'd thankfully started with) because I didn't seem to have enough of the greys/blacks/whites otherwise, and then found the missing piece stuck firmly to the back of another one in the row above, so having finished the bottom row entirely I had to go back and remove it.
Next I sewed the 2nd from bottom row, and when I went to add it to the bottom row, discovered that I'd got another of the bottom row blocks the wrong way round, so then I had to go back and fix that.
Finally I joined the 2nd bottom and bottom rows on the wrong side - argh!
Thankfully it's done now...
